Dylan was born in Ibiza — his mother flown there by helicopter from Formentera, an island too small for a maternity ward — and raised on Formentera itself, close to the land and the sea.

Born to an English mother and a German father, he grew up speaking Spanish and Catalan on the island, English and German at home, and Italian at the tables of close family friends. His school years took him to Germany, then London — where, at sixteen, he met his now wife, Kornelija. They've been together ever since.

At the end of school, his mother gave him a piece of advice that shaped everything: learn a trade. He chose carpentry. A two-year apprenticeship at one of the UK's leading construction colleges, weekends spent at the bench beside a craftsman with thirty years in his hands. By eighteen, Dylan was working for himself — and he never stopped. Early mornings to late evenings, every commission his own, every detail his responsibility.

Years later, with a young family of five, Dylan and Kornelija returned to the Balearics — to Mallorca, bigger than the island he grew up on, but the same light, the same sea. They packed their home and every tool into a van and drove.

Vetana began the way the best things do: quietly. Dylan taking on commissions across the island, one kitchen, one door, one set of wardrobes at a time — and Kornelija seeing what he couldn't: that this was more than jobs here and there. It was a craft the island needed, and a name waiting to exist. Her vision. His hands. Together they built Vetana the way they build everything — carefully, honestly, and to last.

The Name

Veta — Spanish for grain. Read the rings of a tree and you read its life: each year recorded, the dry seasons and the generous ones, everything it weathered written into the wood.

A tree begins as a seed and becomes something towering — shaped by wind and rain, made stronger by both. Families grow the same way. Generation by generation, ring by ring.

Vetana makes work the way trees make wood: slowly, honestly, and to endure.

Every commission begins with a conversation. Not a quote. Not a catalogue. A real conversation, about your home, your life, the light in the room at four o'clock in the afternoon. Because the things that truly belong in a space can't come from a showroom.

We work primarily in natural hardwoods sourced from responsible suppliers — oak, walnut, olive, cedar, chestnut. Wherever possible, we use locally sourced Mallorcan timber. We believe in the beauty of imperfection: the knot, the grain variation, the tool mark that tells you a human being made this.

VETANA is Dylan and Kornelija. He builds. She runs the business. Between them, every detail is covered — from the first conversation to the final coat of oil.

Dylan brings over fifteen years at the bench — trained in London, sharpened on hundreds of commissions, from Victorian restorations to contemporary kitchens. Kornelija brings the organisation, the client care, and the vision that turned a one-man trade into a name people trust. As the business grows, so does the team — carefully chosen craftspeople who share the same standards.
